At our dental practice, our patients all want healthy teeth and beautiful smiles. Unfortunately, Mother Nature does not always cooperate, and some teeth need a little help to look their very best. Our staff is pleased to offer you options to give yourself a smile that you can feel proud to show off.
One excellent option for many of our patients is dental veneers, also called porcelain veneers. Because there have been so many improvements within the cosmetic dentistry world, receiving dental veneers is faster and simpler than ever. A veneer is a very thin shell of porcelain or a resin compound. Each patient gets custom-made shells fitted from an exacting mold of their teeth. Our cosmetic dentist bonds the veneers to your natural teeth, after prepping, and they are a permanent dental fixture.
Veneers conceal an assortment of dental deficiencies including:
- Chipped or broken teeth
- Teeth with gaps or spaces
- Crooked or misaligned teeth
- Stained or discolored teeth
Our patients find that getting dental veneers is a painless and relatively quick procedure. Most of our patients require only two visits to our office before their veneers are complete. During your first visit to our office, you and our dentist will discuss the changes you would like to see. If you choose to go forward, the dentist will prepare your teeth for the veneer by gently removing a thin layer of enamel from your teeth. This process allows the veneers to attach securely to your teeth. The dentist then makes a mold of your teeth; your veneers will be crafted based on this impression.
Our office creates veneers of either porcelain or a resin compound; each material can be made to blend in with your existing teeth. There are many similarities between porcelain and resin veneers. Both kinds of veneers are durable, stain resistant, and unnoticeable in your mouth. There are a few differences between the two varieties of veneers that might make one a better choice for you than the other.
RESIN COMPOUND- The most significant advantage of resin veneers is that we create these in our dental office. This means patients with resin veneers often complete the procedure in a single visit.
PORCELAIN- The porcelain material used to create the shells is extremely stain resistant and durable. However, a dental lab makes the porcelain veneers, and you will need a second visit to complete the process.
If you think veneers might be a good option for you, contact our office and plan a consultation. The perfect smile is easier than you think.
