For decades, many people looked at cosmetic dentistry as a somewhat unnecessary treatment fueled by vanity. The truth is that patients who see our cosmetic dentist have malformations that adversely affect their health as well as their smile.
Cosmetic dentistry is a discipline that is devoted to enhancing the physical attributes of teeth. It is a way to correct bite problems, fix cracked or chipped teeth, and whiten teeth. Moreover, cosmetic dentists replace missing teeth to improve patient’s bite problems. While repairing smile problems, our cosmetic dentist also enhances patients’ self-esteem.
Our cosmetic dentist is well acquainted with various techniques and therapies. Here are some of the typical treatments our dentist performs nearly every day.
- Bleaching- This is used to help remove unsightly discoloration that occurs from smoking, consuming dark foods or drinks, medication, or hereditary. Our dentist takes a mold of your teeth and creates a custom tray to hold the whitener in place. You have the option of using the tray in our office or taking the tray home for whitening.
- Bonding- Our dentist creates a cover from a resin compound and places it securely on top of your natural teeth. We make your new coating in our office, so your bonding procedure takes place in one visit to our office.
- Crowns- If you have a tooth that is injured or compromised, our dentist may recommend placing a crown on top of the natural tooth to cover and to protect the tooth. They provide excellent coverage and are a durable way to shield a tooth.
- Veneers- It is easy to confuse veneers and bonding, as the two processes are very similar. Veneers are often used to treat some of the same issues that bonding treats such as discolored, injured, or misshapen teeth. Veneers are thin porcelain shells made to fit on top of your teeth. Unlike bonding, veneers take more than one visit to our office because they are crafted in a dental lab and not in our office. We use a special light to cement the veneers to your teeth permanently, and the process is painless. Porcelain veneers are preferred by cosmetic dentists because they look like natural teeth and are more durable than bonding.
